40km Course
70km Course
The 21st running of this popular ride, a ride that is suitable for most cyclists, almost regardless of fitness.
Remember it starts and finishes at the OKOROIRE HOTEL so it can be a VERY social event, why not travel there on Saturday and stay the night? Camping and Motor home parking is available, just contact the Hotel.
40km
For those new to cycling or those who are just not quite in the condition they would like to be.
Mainly flat, with one reasonably gentle climb into Tirau, then an undulating road back to the Okoroire Hotel.
So get a group together and “give it a go”. Yes, it is winter, but wrap up warm and accept the challenge.
70km
Ok, you have ridden the 40km before, so why not get in a little training and give the 70km a go.
Alternatively you normally ride the 70km and want to better your time. Although THIS IS NOT A RACE we do have electronic timing, so you can have bragging rights, or not, over your buddies.
The early part of the rides shares the same roads as the 40km, then a nice stretch of flat alongside of the river, before a short climb up to Arapuni.
From here the ride undulates along country roads through to Putaruru, then Tirau, via back roads, before joining the 40km route back to the Okoroire Hotel.
Elite Class
2012 saw Gordon McCauley and Aaron Strong set a time of 1 hour 45 minutes, only to be bettered in 2013 by Brad Tilby and Jim McMurray with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes. 2017 – Logan Griffin 1H 35.58 – That’s Quick!.
JUST BE SURE TO BE BACK BY 1:30PM FOR PRIZE GIVING (All spot prizes).
